Every child deserves to grow up in an environment where they feel safe, respected, and fiercely protected. At Ehsaas Matimand Mulanche Balgruh, we cater to students with intellectual disabilities who enter our residential care through court summons and legal directives. Because of their cognitive vulnerabilities and past experiences, these children are at a significantly higher risk of exploitation.
Our Safety and Rights Education Program is our most critical shield. We believe that protection goes beyond physical walls; true safety comes from equipping our residents with the self-awareness, legal rights, and physical boundaries they need to protect themselves and command respect from the world.
Our Proactive Safety & Rights Framework
Teaching complex legal rights and physical safety to mentally challenged children requires specialized, highly visual, and repetitive training. Our trauma-informed curriculum focuses on three core areas:
Body Awareness & “Good Touch / Bad Touch” Training: Using simplified visual stories, custom-designed anatomical dolls, and role-playing games, we teach our students to identify safe vs. unsafe touch. We establish clear boundaries, empowering them to say a firm “No” and seek help instantly.
Safety Drill Immersion & Disaster Readiness: Because our facility is a full-time residence, we conduct regular, structured drills for fire safety, emergency evacuation, and lock-downs. We break these procedures down into simple, muscle-memory actions so students can react calmly in times of crisis.
The Power to Report (Building Confidence): Children from vulnerable backgrounds often fear authority. We actively retrain our residents to trust their instincts and report any discomfort, fear, or mistreatment immediately to designated, friendly safety officers and counselors within the Balgruh without fear of punishment.
Legal Rights Advocacy & Child Protection Laws: We educate our children—according to their individual cognitive capacities—about their basic human rights and legal protections under national child welfare laws (such as POCSO and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act).
Digital and Community Safety: For students transitioning into higher levels of social inclusion and vocational markets, we provide practical training on stranger danger, street navigation safety, and basic awareness regarding personal privacy.
